Xiaomi's latest Mi Pad 2 now turns into a Transformer






Transformers Special Edition Mi Pad 2 is a toy made by Xiaomi in partnership with Hasbro to mark its sixth birthday on April 6.

NEW DELHI: Inspired by Hasbro's Transformers, Chinese startup Xiaomihas dedicated its Mi Pad 2 to actually transform into one. The company through its official Twitter page teased its "Soundwave: Mi Pad 2 that actually turns into a Transformer."

Transformers Special Edition Mi Pad 2 is a toy made by Xiaomi in partnership with Hasbro to mark its sixth birthday on April 6. This is a crowd sourced project available only in China and will start to ship to its supporters from May 13 for a price of 169 Yuan, if the funding goal is achieved.



The Mi Pad 2Transformers edition is meant for Xiaomi's fans in China and is not a working unit.




The original Mi Pad 2 has a 7.9-inch display with 1536x2048p resolution, exactly the same as the older MiPad. It runs on a 2.24GHz quad-core Intel Atom X5-Z8500 chipset with 2GB RAM and comes in two storage variants: 16GB and On the back is an 8MP camera, while a 5MP unit is positioned in front for video calls. Connectivity features of Xiaomi MiPad 2 include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Along with these, the tablet comes with a USB Type C connector. The battery capacity of the device is 6,190mAh and supports fast-charging technology.

Xiaomi MiPad 2 runs on Android Lollipop-based MIUI 7 software and features a special Reading Mode. Alternatively, buyers can purchase the MiPad featuring Windows 10 out of the box and the same set of hardware.
